This week was another great week! The kids are really starting to get into the poetry unit we are going through. Shel Silverstein has been a big hit! I also have started using Nearpod and I have had some really good responses from my kids. I have used it in language arts and in math. Two separate groups of kids and both with great results. I am definitely looking forward to using it more!
My class started working on another Kidblog in response to learning about the branches of our government. Check out their thoughts! We are looking forward to a very busy week next week.
The 4th graders started Professor Popcorn last week. We have a weekly visitor who talks to the kids about healthy food, exercise, and food portions. They also bring in new, healthy snacks for the kids to try. We have started a 30 day healthy living challenge as a part of this. We are keeping track of what we eat each day and how much physical activity we get. The students then have an opportunity to reflect on how they their week went and what they could do better for the upcoming week.
We had the book fair this week and the kids, along with myself, got some really great books! Our Winter Picnic on Friday night and we had a great turnout.
Lastly, we had our B.U.G.S visitors this week. Two students from each 4th grade class are selected by their teacher. One student is awarded for being a "top student" who consistently shows good grades. The other student is awarded for brining up their grades and consistently working hard. Way to go to 4th grade!

I found these ideas (pictures below) on Pinterest and have been using them for a couple weeks now. They have been great additions to our class so far!
